Star comfort in the barn

The Venema family from Elahuizen (the Netherlands) has recently renewed their cubicle barn. About 130 cows now call this barn their home. Together with Royal de Boer-dealer Koopstra Handelonderneming from Wolvega, the choice was made for cubicles of the type B3130, combined with deep straw bedding.
Comfort
The cubicles are 115 cm wide, and filled with cut straw. The cubicle B3130 makes lying down extra comfortable for the cows because of its flexible brackets and movable neck rail. The result is immediately visible in the barn: the cows lie in their cubicles, they eat at the feed fence and the alleys are free of cows.
Manure treatment
The manure on the rubber walking alley is separated into a thin fraction and a stackable manure. The thin manure first runs through a leakage grid into the basement. The solid manure falls through a manure outlet into a cistern. This solid manure is later easily transported to the manure pile with a wheel loader.
